- How do you Make Football Brownies?
My original post covered the football in brown chocolate before moving on to outlining the laces in white. This time, I used chocolate frosting. Who doesn’t love a frosted brownie? The bonus is that spreading frosting is a whole lot easier and involves fewer steps. This new version is simple and yummy.
FAQs
Make-Ahead and Storage
How long do frosted brownies last at room temperature?
As long as there is nothing perishable in the frosting, you should be able to store brownies in an air-tight container at room temperature for a few days
Can You Freeze Frosted Brownies?
Yes. You can, but you run the risk of condensation impacting your frosting and making the texture all wrong. It’s best to freeze brownies before you frost them
Can I Freeze Brownies without frosting?
Yes! You should be able to freeze brownies for up to 3 months. Thaw them with the lid off at room temperature
Can I Store Frosted Brownies in the refrigerator?
Yes. Storing frosted brownies, covered tightly in the refrigerator will allow them to be kept for a few more days – up to 6 days
Do I Have to Let Brownies Cool Completely before Frosting them?
Yes. If the brownies are still warm, they will melt the frosting
Tips and Tricks:
- Adding one more egg to a brownie mix than the recipe requires will usually result in a cake-like brownie. It will be fluffier and thicker
- I used a box mix, but feel free to substitute your own milk chocolate brownie recipe
If you are ready to make these cute and simple brownies, let’s make sure you have everything you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 box of milk chocolate brownie mix
- canola oil – You can also use vegetable oil
- water – this will be used to mix with the brown mix
- Large Eggs – The more eggs you use in brownies, the more of a cake-like texture you will get. Add one more egg for a lighter fluffier brownie
- Parchment Paper
- Football Cookie Cutter
- 9×13 inch baking pan – greased
- white cookie icing – Lately, I’ve been using a tube of cookie icing that I find in the baking aisle of my local grocery store. The tips are interchangeable and they really make life easy
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
- In a large bowl, mix the brownie mix, oil, water, and eggs
- Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper and pour the prepared batter in
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes
- Once the brownies have cooled slightly, lift the parchment paper out of the pan and place it on a work surface – you’ll want to do this in one quick motion so the brownies do not crack apart
- Use the cookie cutter to cut out the football shapes
- Remove the scraps and let the kids eat them or you can enjoy a fun treat 🙂
- In a small bowl, melt half of your bag of white chocolate melts – use the package directions for the microwave or – pop them in the microwave for 1 minute, stir, and pop back in for 30 seconds, stir until smooth
- Transfer the melted chocolate to your squeeze tube, and start adding the lace details
- If you use a cookie cutter as I did, just fill in the lines
- If you use a plain ole’ football shape, you’ll have to use my picture as a guide to drawing your white lines
- Let the chocolate dry and harden
- That’s it! Enjoy!
